Dusk2012

In the tradition of 21 Grams and Crash, writer-director Alon Zingman skillfully interweaves four stories. Three of them begin at dawn: a young woman returning from Peru is met by her father at Ben Gurion airport; a duty-free shop employee ends her shift; and an Argentinean woman and her school-age son board a bus for his circumcision at a Tel Aviv hospital. All meet – or nearly meet – by dusk, when day shifts to night. A hit-and-run car accident is the catalyst for much of the action. Depicting ordinary lives turned upside down, Dusk illustrates a parent’s challenge to do the right thing, as well as the solace of a child’s forgiveness.
